Woodlands Self-Catering - situated on the banks of the beautiful Tati River, 10kms north of Francistown on the Nata/Maun/Kasane A3 route. Woodlands camp is an ideal stopover to break the long journey for those exploring the northern territories of Botswana, or returning home, and for those wanting to be safely off the roads before dark.

At Woodlands we invite you to make make use of our lovely sparkling swimming pool to refresh you after your long journey. Grassed individual campsites with their own braai, water and electrical points are provided. Or sleep soundly in cosy tiled chalets, with African cane furniture and three-quarter size beds, each with its own electricity supply.

Perhaps you would prefer to relax in one of Woodlands beautiful cottages - Woodlands, Guinea Fowl or the new River View Chalets. They are all fully equipped for self-catering. Also available for your convenience are braai packs, wood, ice, refreshments as well as other basic food commodities.

A large variety of Botswana bird species can be viewed whilst relaxing on the secluded mukwa deck on the river bank. Experience the call, in the summer months, of the migrant Woodlands Kingfishers who nest here annually, and after which the campsite is named.

Lovely walks along the river bed/bank and within easy walking distance are the Selolwe Ruins - a National Monument site. Although our official name is Woodlands 4x4 we are accessible by normal saloon car.

You will find Woodlands sign post on your right 10 km north of Francistown on the Nata road. At Woodlands we do have a small shop that sells the bare necessities.

Francistown is Botswana's second city and Woodlands Stopover is just 10 km north of Francistown. From Woodlands self-catering at Francistown it will take you just more than 2 hours to get to Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Khama Rhino Sanctuary offers, as Woodslands does, self-catering accommodation and camping.

Two hours north of Woodlands at Francistown lies Nata. Here you can stay at Nata Lodge. Nata Lodge offers upmarket accommodation and camping.

Three hours from Woodlands Stopver lies Gweta on the edge of the Makgadigadi Pans. Five hundred km from Francistown and five hours drive from Woodlands self-catering in Botswana. Here you can hire a 4x4 from Temba Car Hire and you can book one of our lodges at Temba Car Hire. Our favourite lodge near Maun is the Thamalakane River Lodge 5 hours from Woodlands in Francistown.

Most people landing in Francistown would like to visit the Okavango Delta in Botswana. You can reach Moremi within a day from Woodlands and Francistown. If you want to visit the western side of the Okavango Delta and Shakawe in particular, it might be advisable to allow 2 days to drive from Woodlands self-catering accommodation. The western panhandle of the Okavango Delta does have some excellent lodges such as Drotsky Cabins and Nguma Island. This part of Botswana hosts even more birds than Woodlands at Francistown. Fishing is also excellent at Drotsky's.

Five hours from Woodlands near Francistown lies the Chobe National Park and Kasane. Here in Kasane 500 km from Francistown is excellent accommodation at Chobe accommodation, Senyati Safari Lodge is in the bush and offers as Woodlands does, self-catering accommodation. Toro Lodge offers affordable camping and river chalets and Chobe Safari Lodge offers excellent accommodation at very reasonable prices. All these lodges are only 5 hours drive from Woodlands self-catering accommodation.

Woodlands Stopover is the perfect overnight stop between Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Gaborone in Botswana. Allow 6 hours to get from Francistown to Victoria Falls. In Victoria Falls the Victoria Falls Rest Camp offers similiar accommodation to Woodlands in Francistown Botswana.

Gaborone is the capital city of Botswana and lies 4 hours south of Woodlands and Francistown. In Gaborone we offer accommodation such as Cresta Lodge a luxury hotel in the CBD and the Big Five Lodge. Ten km south of Gaborone and 5 hours from Woodlands in Francistown is the Mokolodi Nature Reserve. Here you can overnight in self-catering accommodation.

Kang is a town 600 hundred km from Francistown and Woodlands self-catering as the crow flies, but more than 900 km by road. Kang Ultra Stop is halfway between Gaborone in Botswana and Windhoek in Kang.
